Moving Images Collection

Reference tapes may be viewed at the Archives during our regular hours . Copies of each VHS tape (containing several reels each) are available through the Archives at $15.00 per tape and $1.00 for postage and handling.

This collection includes motion picture films produced by, or for, State of Maine Departments, usually for promotional purposes. Departments represented include Agriculture, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and the Department of Economic Development.

To access these films, we have created an index arranged by subject . The descriptions are rudimentary and often incomplete. As more information is discovered about these people, places and events, it will be entered into the database. Also, many reels are similar because these films represent raw footage as well as edited and final versions.
