First you will need to complete a Teacher Certification Request Form online or write to State of Maine Department of Education, Certification Office, 23 State House Station, Augusta ME 04333-0023 and include your full name and address. You may also call (207) 624-6603 to have the application materials sent to you. Once you have received the materials, complete both sides of the application. Attach a copy of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts if completed. Transcripts must show courses, credits, bachelor's degree received, and date conferred on the transcript. You must show proof of passing scores on the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or the PRAXIS I Computer Based Test (CBT). List the certificate or endorsement code and the grade level on the bottom of the application. Submit the fee required by check or money order. Visit the Department of Education's Teacher Certification site for more information, to request an application, or to check your application or certification status online.
