Regulation of Transient Sales - Transient Sellers of Consumer Merchandise

Purpose

It is the intent of the Legislature to require the licensing of Transient Sellers who engage in the business of selling merchandise to consumers by means of personal contact or telephone contact by persons who do not have a permanent place of business in the State of Maine.

The primary responsibilities of the Office are to review the credentials of qualified applicants for registration as transient sellers, to promulgate rules as necessary, investigate complaints and take appropriate disciplinary action for noncompliance of current laws and rules.
