Summary: Licensee admitted that he prescribed Tramadol, a prescription drug, for himself and his wife, and that both he and his wife ingested this prescription medication for medical conditions unrelated to the practice of podiatric medicine. Licensee agreed to a 3 year suspension, with all but 7 days suspended, and a 3 year probation. Conditions of probation include total abstention from the use of any controlled substances or prescription drugs (subject to certain exceptions and conditions), an evaluation and treatment for substance abuse by a physician, consultations with the treating physician no less frequently than once per month, quarterly reports to the board concerning such counseling and treatment, and quarterly urine screens. Licensee also agreed to pay $1094.25 for the board's actual investigative costs.

Licensee agreed to: (a) complete a continuing medical education "PICA" course in ethics or an equivalent program approved by the board, and (b) to create and maintain a log of all narcotics of 20 or more tablets prescribed to patients, and to submit such log(s) to the board for review on a quarterly basis for a period of 1 year.
