An Elevator Inspector is a person who inspects elevators and lifts
in the State of Maine.

| Requirements |
To qualify, an applicant must:
- Be certified as a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) by an
organization accredited by the ASME Qualification of Inspectors
Committee, and submit to the Board, together with the application
to take the examination required by this Chapter, satisfactory
evidence of certification;
- Obtain a grade of at least 80% on an examination administered
by the Board;

Renewal fees and information

- Annual renewal fee of $50.00

- Renews annually on August 31st

| Requirements |
- Proof of QEI Certification
- A late fee of $50.00 is assessed for licenses renewed up to
90 days after the license expiration date.
- Any person who submits an application for renewal more than
90 days after the expiration date but not more than 2 years
may reinstate by paying the $50 license fee and $100 penalty
fee.
Reinstatement application
- Any person who submits an application for renewal more than
2 years after the expiration date shall be subject to all requirements
governing new applicants.

for renewal before your license is renewed. Online submission
of your renewal application should not be construed as automatic
renewal of your license.
