Journeyman-In-Training Electrician

A Journeyman-in-Training Electrician is a person making electrical installations in the employment of a master electrician, limited electrician or electrical company and under the supervision of a journeyman, limited or master electrician. A Journeyman-in-Training must be a graduate of an accredited Maine technical college or Department of Corrections electrical program, receive a passing grade on the journeyman examination and complete 2,000 hours of experience.

Requirements
  • In order to qualify for a Journeyman-in-training electricians license, a person must be a graduate of an accredited vocational technical college electrical program, receive a passing grade on the journeyman's examination, complete 2,000 hours of experience and provide notarized documentation from the applicant's employer(s) verifying 2000 hours of working experience as an electrician.

Renewal fees and information

Fees
  • Biennial renewal fee of $80.00
Terms
  • This license is renewed every two years based on first licensure date
Requirements
  • A late fee of $50.00 is assessed for licenses renewed after the license expiration date.
  • Any person who submits an application for renewal more than 90 days after the expiration date shall be subject to all requirements governing new applicants.
