Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor

Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor means an individual licensed by the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation who is providing the service of professional alcohol and drug counseling to the public for a fee, monetary or otherwise, and who meets the criteria established in sections 6213 and 6214-A for a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.

Renewal fees and information

Fees
  • Annual renewal fee $135.00
Terms
  • Renews annually on November 30th
Requirements
  • Late fee of $50 assessed if renewed after November 30th
  • If application submitted more than 90 days after the November 30 expiration date, you will be subject to all requirements governing new applicants. You will be required to reapply with original license application, documentation and fees.
  • Renewal applications are mailed approximately 30 days prior to the license expiration date.

    It is the licensee’s responsibility to keep the Board informed of the current license address and/or to see that the license is renewed absent the renewal application.
  • Continuing education: 36 contact hours of continuing education is required prior to the November 30 renewal (biennially), i.e. 2005, 2007, 2009, etc.

The Department must verify that you have met all the conditions for renewal before your license is renewed. Online submission of your renewal application should not be construed as automatic renewal of your license.
