UnitedHealth Group to Provide Coverage for H1N1 Vaccine

The Bureau of Insurance has received notice from UnitedHealth Group that the company will be providing its policyholders with coverage for the administration of H1N1 vaccinations. Superintendent Mila Kofman lauded the move by UnitedHealth Group stating, “It is good news for UnitedHealth Group members that the company will not only provide coverage for H1N1 vaccinations to members whose plans cover immunizations, but is extending this coverage to members whose plans do not currently include immunizations.”

More information about H1N1 is available at www.maine.gov/dhhs/boh/swine-flu-2009.shtml from the Maine CDC. Details can also be obtained from the U.S. CDC at www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/update.htm, including confirmed cases by state.

The Bureau of Insurance is part of the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation which encourages sound ethical business practices through high quality, impartial and efficient regulation of insurers, financial institutions, creditors, investment providers, and numerous professions and occupations for the purpose of protecting the citizens of Maine.
