Now comes the Maine Ambulatory Care Coalition (MACC), in response to the Submission of Reports of Experts and moves for an enlargement of time to provide those reports.

1. On February 23, 2000 the MACC submitted a Memorandum to the Applicants requesting documents from the repository. Specifically, the request called for copies of all responses, including but not limited to all confidential and supplemental responses, including those responses made by reference to other documents, to the following inquiries with a request these documents be available for pick up at the repository on Friday February 25, 2000.

2. The request included:

a. The Associated Hospital Service of Maine/Anthem Health Plan of Maine, Inc. responses to the provider group’s first discovery request.

b. The following Associated Hospital Service of Maine/Anthem Health Plan of Maine, Inc. responses to the Attorney General’s second discovery request dated January 11, 2000: Request #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, #11, #12, #13, #16

c. The following Associated Hospital Service of Maine/Anthem Health Plan of Maine, Inc. responses to the Superintendent’s second discovery request dated December 3, 1999:

Request #30, #52(b), #52(d), #55, #56, #62, #67, #68, #106, #107

3. On Friday, February 25, 2000 at 4:50pm there was only one document available. On Monday February 28, 2000 the MACC received 1,477 pages of documents in the mail accompanied by a cover sheet outlining the enclosure. On March 1, 2000 the request was fully responded to by the submission of more than 5,000 pages of unindexed documentation.

4. The MACC asserts that it is not possible to identify all its experts or to provide the reports of its experts based on the information provided by the Applicants due to the untimely, unindexed and voluminous nature of the information.

5. The MACC is requesting an extension to file the reports of experts until one week before the deadline for filing of prefiled testimony and exhibits, March 21, 2000.
