Amalfitano, Albert R., D.O. (#1752, Waterville, ME) - 1990 Consent Agreement regarding Dr. Amalfitano's practice of medicine. The Agreement was terminated in 1995.

Amalfitano, Albert R., D.O. - 1998 Consent Agreement regarding improper prescribing procedures. This agreement was amended in September 1998 to include a letter of warning.

Amalfitano, Albert R., D.O. – September 1998 Amendment to Consent Agreement requiring 1) that the licensee take the SPEX examination upon completion of a remediation course; 2) 10 patient charts reviewed by a physician reviewer in the same practice specialty; 3) letter of warning (as noted above); 4) referral of patients with addictions to a detox program and/or referred to a new physician, pain clinic or emergency room. If patients not accepted or refuse referral, it is the responsibility of the licensee to develop a titration plan.

Practice restrictions regarding work hours and setting. Monthly chart reviews by monitoring physician w/monthly reports to Board. Prescribing restricted to as allowed by guidelines contained in Chapters 11 & 16 of the Rules adopted by the Board. Agreement requires continuing medical education regarding ethics & professional boundaries; monthly meetings with mental health professional w/report to Board; quarterly visits to primary care provider with quarterly reports to the Board; monthly meeting with physician providing treatment for sleep disorder with semi-annual reports to the Board; reevaluation one year after resumption of practice with report to Board; payment of costs. Term: automatic review regarding necessity of Consent Agreement once it has been in effect for 3 years.

Painter, Stanley, D.O. (#814, Winthrop, ME) - 2003 Consent Agreement regarding prescribing of Schedule II drugs.

Painter, Stanley, D. O. – 3rd Amendment to Consent Agreement. Effective 1/1/06, licensee shall not prescribe Sch. III drugs to patients, except those with 1) legitimate and documented pain from a dx of terminal cancer and, 2) those with a documented situation of acute pain for which the prescription can be for no more than a 30 day supply, no subsequent Sch. III prescriptions may be written. Licensee must assist those currently receiving prescriptions for Sch. III drugs to transfer prescribing to another physician or taper the patient off of the Sch. III medication.

Stanley Painter, D.O. (#814, Winthrop) – October 2006 – Decision and Order regarding failure to comply with certain terms of his November 2004 Amendment to Consent Agreement. Licensee must reimburse the Board for the costs of the adjudicatory hearing. Licensee and his staff shall summarize the office practice regarding charting and recordkeeping.

March 2005 - 1st Amendment to Consent Agreement (due to sexual misconduct) allowing resumption of practice, effective 3/24/05, with chaperones required for all female patients age 12 and over; monitored practice with chart reviews and monthly reviewer reports to the Board; weekly counseling with monthly counselor reports to the Board. Chaperone requirement will be reviewed by the Board on an annual basis to determine whether sufficient progress has been made to justify changes to this restriction.
