Administrative - Letters of Guidance

The Board of Osteopathic Licensure is authorized to issue letters of guidance or concern to the physicians it licenses by Title 10 M.R.S.A. Section 8005 (5) (E). The Board issues letters of guidance or concern after it has completed an investigation or the review of a complaint. The letters are used to educate, reinforce knowledge regarding a legal or professional obligation, express concern over actions or inactions by the licensee, and offer recommendation for avoiding similar problems in the future. The letters remain in the licensee's file for up to ten years.

These letters are available to the public and are not disciplinary action.

To find out if a letter of guidance has been issued to a specific physician, you may contact the Board office at (207)287-2480 or by e-mail at
