*This Exchange 2003 e-mail system was designed for 90% of the mailboxes to be the size of 100 MB or under and 10% to be 100 MB or over.  The reasoning behind the 100 MB limit is due to the time that backups take to run during non-core business hours.  Ideally, the backups should be completed before 7:00 AM so that the system is not impacted during core business hours.

E-Mail Attachment limits:

  • E-mail coming into the system from the internet is limited to 20 Megabytes
  • E-mails sent within the state system are limited to 50 Megabytes
  • E-mails going out to the internet are limited to 50 Megabytes
