Soft Token Client Installation Instructions

A software token is a type of two-factor authentication security device that may be used to authorize the use of computer services. Software tokens are stored on a general-purpose electronic device such as a desktop computer, laptop, PDA, or mobile phone. This is in contrast to hardware tokens, where the credentials are stored on a dedicated hardware device.

This document is to assist you in the installation and setup of a software token, however the Call Center can assist you with this or your Security Coordinator.

After you double click the below screen appears, please select RUN


Please select Next


Please select NEXT


Please select "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and select NEXT


Please ensure that Typical is selected and then select NEXT


Please select INSTALL


Please select FINISH


Installing THE SEED

The ?seed? carries the built-in clock and the card's factory-encoded random key. The seed is different for each token, and is loaded into the corresponding RSA SecurID server (RSA Authentication Manager, formerly ACE/Server) as the tokens are purchased. The seed is typically 128 bits long.

You will receive the seed through your e-mail. Once received save it to your desktop. If you have installed the software, as indicated above, then the seed will load automatically once you double click on the seed (after you have saved it to your desktop).

If you have installed the ?seed? in another location then got to Start > All Programs > RSA SecurID Token > select RSA SecurID Token.

The program will prompt you to import a seed, so select ?Import from File?


Browse to the path where you saved the seed from your email and select OK.



Once successfully imported you will get the below screen and select OK.



This gives you your soft token with the SN ~ DO NOT change the name

Now you will need to contact the Call Center at 624-7700 to generate a pin, if this is a new token. If it is a replacement token then use your existing pin.

After you have received a pin or are using your old pin if this is a replacement. You will need to enter the pin on the soft token where it says enter pin, hit enter


It will take you to the passcode screen, you will need to ?copy? this number and ?paste? it in the SecureID PIN/Passcode space in Juniper/net connect screen for the token code. With the soft token you do not need to put the 4 digit pin on to Juniper/net connect just the passcode.
