Challenge: A Logic Riddle
by Lester Dickey
| In "olden days", the student of logic was given this problem: If
half of 5 were 3, what would one-third of 10 be? There are at least three ways, completely
logical, for arriving at the answer. Please state your reasoning so I can see if you can
come up with a different logical method for solving this riddle. |
| Please e-mail Lester
Dickey with your answer and your name, phone number, and the organization for
which you work. Or call Barbara Buck at 287-3631. The winner will be drawn
from all the correct entries and will receive a FREE pizza from Pat's Pizza.
All answers must be in no later than the 14th of the month. |
| Last month's challenge brought 12 correct responses. The winner is Ann
Crocker of Maine State Housing Authority, chosen by random drawing. |
| The answer was HEAVEN, as in seventh heaven. First aid,
second nature, third world, etc. |
