Words simply are not adequate to express the feelings of sadness, shock and disbelief in the wake of the events of September 11. We know we have lost members of the Women In Technology International (WITI) family and I would like to express, on behalf of WITI, its staff and community, the deep sympathy we have for the families of those who are injured, missing, or lost their lives in yesterday's tragedies. It is critical in times such as these that we support each other as friends and as colleagues, and that we use the tremendous technology we have available to offer support and solace to the individuals who are suffering.
On our Web site ( http://www.witi.com ), we have researched links whereby you can locate survivors, offer financial support, give blood and receive counseling. We will continue to research and add new links as they become available. We offer you the use of our chat site ( http://www.leadershipxcellencechat.com/ ) to connect with others when it is too difficult by telephone. Please use our discussion boards ( http://www.leadxonline.com/sys-tmpl/discussiongroups/ ) to express your feelings and opinions in a safe, secure environment.
Please join me and WITI's staff in our prayers for those who were injured or lost, their families and the continuing hope for survivors of this disaster. Let us focus our optimism on our future and resolve to continue to be strong as a community, as colleagues and as a country.
With my warmest regards,
Carolyn Leighton
WITI Chairwoman and Founder
