AUGUSTA, Maine — A new informational brochure, the Pocket
Guide to Maine's Business Resources, is a fast and easy
reference for state resources and is now available to
all members of Maine's business community, according
to Steven Levesque, commissioner of the Maine Department
of Economic and Community Development (DECD).
Profiling
business assistance programs from Tax Increment Financing
to Maine's Applied Technology Development Centers, the
Pocket Guide to Maine's Business Resources contains
summaries and contact information for state and local
financing programs, tax credits and exemptions, marketing
initiatives, work force training, environmental protection,
technical assistance and business services and information.
"Each
entry contains valuable information, including a brief
summary of the program, a contact office or organization,
phone number and Web site," Levesque said. "The pocket
guide also features a convenient, removable insert that
lists the phone number and Web sites for all the state
agencies and organizations offering the programs."
Other
programs and organizations covered in the guide include
the Governor's Training Initiative, the Maine Technology
Institute, the Maine Products Marketing Program and
the Small Business Energy Conservation Program. These
are just a few of the 42 programs and 14 state agencies
listed in the brochure that offer financial, marketing,
training and technical assistance to Maine's business
community.
The
Pocket Guide to Business Resources can be accessed via
the Internet through the Web
site. Printed copies of the 26-page brochure also
are available and can be obtained by calling the DECD
at (800) 541-5872.
