  2. A Bare Bones Reference List for Small and Medium-Sized Public Libraries in Maine
  3. Children's Book Review - Monthly meetings to review publisher copies of books in the Maine Examination Collection
  4. Children's Librarians - Open meetings for any staff who work with children and young adults in public libraries
  5. Continuing Education - Trainings, workshops, and institutes offered at low cost or no charge for member library staff.
  6. Cream of the Crop- A traveling exhibit of the best children's and YA books compiled annually for Reading Round-Up
  7. Interlibrary Loan - Libraries and individuals may request books and journals through the Area Reference and Resource Center [Portland Public Library]
  8. Library of the Month - Photos and captions of selected member libraries from 2001-2006 with an emphasis on those in new or renovated buildings, celebrating special events or anniversaries, or with special collections and services.
  9. Library Makeovers - A new program for public and school libraries that provides advice about furniture, walls, and flooring.
  10. Library Spotlight - Photos and text highlight a different regional library system member each month; previous spotlight libraries are archived.
  11. Maine Examination Collection - Publisher review copies of children's and young adult books
  12. Newsletter - Quarterly publication with library events mailed free to members
  13. Orientation for New Staff and Trustees - New library staff and trustees are invited to attend the annual orientation session.
  14. Professional Collection - Books and AV materials about library administration and issues available for loan to library staff, trustees and Friends
  15. Public Library Directors - District and statewide meetings held in member libraries and at conference centers with current sites and topics listed on the SMLD web page, Upcoming Events
  16. Public Library Trustees - District and statewide meetings about topics of current interest for trustees serving on both private and public library boards
  17. Public Relations - Library publicity, exhibits, and promotional items
  18. Reading Round-Up - Statewide conference of children's literature held in April
  19. School Librarians - Open meetings held in member school libraries -- often in newly-constructed facilities -- for staff working with students K - 12
  20. SCOOP Cooperative - Discounts on library books, furniture, equipment and supplies
  21. Summer Reading Celebration - Co-sponsored by SMLD and the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport for all children participating in member library summer reading programs
