Council & Board

Council Meetings

Council meetings are held twice annually in the Spring and Fall.  All SMLD library staff, trustees, and Friends are welcome to attend.  Mailings are sent to all SMLD libraries.  Members of CMLD and NMLD are also invited to attend.

All staff from Southern Maine Library District member libraries are invited to attend District Council Meetings.

District Council

Member libraries appoint representatives to a District Council which meets semi-annually. Public, special and academic libraries, as well as school systems, are each entitled to one representative.  From the Council, a nine member Executive Board is elected.  Council members help to coordinate purchasing cooperatives, public relations activities, and local networking opportunities. Refer to the Council Bylaws for further information.

Board

Anyone interested in serving on the SMLD Board is invited to send an Application to the Nominating Committee, c/o SMLD Office.
