  • Google Maps - The Google Maps site allows you to map locations down to the neighborhood or street level. Offered are maps and satellite photo images, or a combination of both. You may also map trips and get driving directions here.

  • Library Cats Map - Just for fun, this site maps all the locations for library cats around the world. For example, click on the state outline of Maine and a page comes up listing all the library cats, past and present, in libraries in Maine.   • The Library of Congress American Memory - Click on the "maps" link on this page and you will be taken to a page listing 10 map collections which the Library of Congress has digitized and put online. Collections include Civil War maps, maps of the National Parks, panoramic maps of places, and Revolutionary-era maps, just to name a few.

  • Maine Geological Survey - This site offers geologic maps of Maine. Via the search function, you can find maps by town, quadrangle, or region. A digital version of the map will come up, with a listing of related maps available for sale.

  • MapQuest - MapQuest bills itself as "The best digital directory resource for finding anything in the physical world over any connected device." Here you can generate maps of locations as well as get driving directions.

  • Maps on US - A service of the online telephone directory Switchboard.com, this is another mapping service which allows you to map an address or get driving directions.

  • The National Map - This is a site of the U.S. Geological Survey. It is an online, interactive map serivce. Click on the viewer and, without any specialized software, you can look at maps and add layers such as geographic names, the national grid, natural hazards/weather, etc.
