  • FAME: Finance Authority of Maine - At the FAME website, click on "Education" to find a college cost estimator, scholarship search, information for financial aid professionals and more. Or, click on "NextGen" to discover ways to save money for college in a state-supported matching program.

  • Maine Communities Foundation - This site provides access to information on scholarships for Maine residents. Scholarships are available for high school and college students and are available by county. Application forms may be downloaded from the site.

  • Mitchell Scholarship - Established in 1994, this program annually provides a scholarship to one student from each public high school in Maine. The focus is giving to Maine students who will be going to Maine colleges and universities.

  • FinAid: The Smart Student Guide to Financial Aid - This is THE place to begin! FinAid links you to a wide range of free information such as scholarships, loans, government information and free calculators designed to help estimate repayment costs. FinAid also includes an excellent glossary of financial aid terms, a bibliography of over 400 print sources and a list of Title IV institution codes. This site is also kept current with frequent up-dates.

  • Federal Student Aid (FSA) - The Student Financial Assistance Program provides over $40 billion a year in grants, loans, and work-study assistance. This site helps to find and apply for federal student aid.

  • Funding Education beyond High School: the Guide to Federal Student Aid - This link leads to a Department of Education publication which contains current information on how to determine financial aid eligibility and the types and conditions of various government loans and Pell grants. This guide is updated annually.
