Outreach > Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading ProgramMaine State Library Outreach is pleased to offer Maine libraries the opportunity to take advantage of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). CSLP has been in operation since 1987. Participating states have input into the selection of themes and materials to be developed for each year's program. The materials are professionally produced just for use by libraries in participating states. Summer reading programs are proven to help prevent summer loss--a documented phenomenon where children lose ground in critical skills over summer months due to lack of use. 2008 ThemesThe 2008 themes are "Catch the Reading Bug" for children and "Metamorphosis @ Your Library" for teens. A copy of the 2008 manual was sent to all public libraries in November 2007. If you plan to order incentives, Upstart recommends ordering early for greatest product availability. By placing your order by January 1, 2008, you should receive your order by April 1, 2008. For more information about incentives and ordering online, visit the Collaborative Summer Library Program 2008 Program. For more information or if you have questions about the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), please contact Jim Roy at 1-800-762-7106 or email him. |
