Maine State Librarian Testifies Before U.S. Senate Committee

At the request of Committee Chairman Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, Linda Lord, Maine State Librarian testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation at a hearing on E-rate 2.0. on July 17, 2013. She called for a "proactive vision for meeting the educational and learning needs of our communities for the next 15 years and beyond" at the hearing. Representing our nation's 16,400 public libraries, Lord touted the success of the E-Rate program in helping connect nearly 100 percent of libraries who serve more than 30 million people every week.
Lord is chairperson of the American Library Association’s E-rate task force and the liaison between the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies and the American Library Association’s Washington Office.
