Directions

The Maine State Library is located in the Cultural building in the State House Complex.

From the South

  1. From I-95, take Exit 109 (first Augusta exit).
  2. Bear right toward downtown Augusta, merging onto US Route 202-East (Western Avenue).
  3. At the 3rd traffic signal (about ½ mile) turn right onto Armory Street (following dark blue and white sign for "State Offices West").
  4. At the next traffic signal, turn right onto Sewall Street.
  5. Turn left into the large parking lot, following sign for "State Museum, Library, Archives".
  6. The State Library is in the flat-roofed building to your right.

From the North

  1. From I-95, take Exit 109A (the third Augusta interchange).
  2. Follow steps 2-6 of "From the South".

From the West

  1. Follow US Route 202-East to Augusta (becomes Western Avenue).
  2. After the I-95 interchange, follow steps 3-6 of "From the South".

From the East

From Route 3

  1. Follow Route 3 to I-95 and the I-95 ramp to Augusta-Portland.
  2. Take I-95 South to Exit 109A.
  3. Follow steps 2-6 of "From the South".

From Route 17

  1. Follow Route 17 to Route 201 South at the East Side Traffic Circle in Augusta.
  2. Go three-quarters of the way around the circle, following Route 201 South.
  3. At the next traffic circle, go three-quarters of the way around, still following Route 201.
  4. At the second traffic light, turn right into the parking lot.
  5. The library is the flat-roofed building on your left at the top of the rise.
