  • The success in meeting the demands of statewide resource sharing by 679,000 Maine public library cardholders is placing great strains on library collections. LD 793 meets the demands by increasing funding for library collections.
  • Bangor and Portland Public Libraries offer free services to residents of multi-county areas. They loan 1.1 million items, answer 160,000 reference transactions, and handle 42,000 interlibrary loan requests. LD 793 allows regional libraries to develop stronger, in-depth collections.
  • LD 793 expands delivery service to small and rural libraries to get more materials into the hands of more Maine residents.
