This year's conference sold out once again. Over 350 school librarians; public library staff members; and authors attended the conference on April 13, 2006
at the Augusta Civic Center. The theme was "Reaching Out to Readers."
Michael Sullivan (at left) gave the keynote address -- "Boys and Books: A Vital Connection." He is the author of "Connecting Boys with Books: What Libraries Can
Do" and "Fundamentals of Children's Services." Sullivan was President of the New Hampshire Library Association ('96-'97) and the 1998 New Hampshire Librarian of the Year.

Youth Services Section Interest Group of MLA announced the Lupine and Katahdin Awards. The Katahdin Award went to Nancy Garden;
the Lupine Awards went to Paul Janeczko and Jennifer Richard Jacobson; and the Lupine Honors went to Melissa Sweet and Kathryn Lasky (not Present). The Chickadee Award was also announced.
Over 130 outstanding 2005 "Cream of the Crop" books were on display and presented by Librarians Louise Capizzo, Kathy George, Kathie Harper, Leslie Rounds, Vicky Smith, and Marilyn Taylor.
