- Consider how many different kinds of light bulbs and ballasts you will need to replace. Architects may like to include many intriguing light fixtures in their designs, but you will be the ones ordering umpteen number of replacement bulbs and ballasts over the years. The fewer different kinds, the better.
- In the construction planning process, careful attention should be paid to the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system. Modern HVAC systems are exceedingly complex and difficult to design and build so that they operate correctly. Special consulting with an HVAC expert might be wise in regard to HVAC design, control systems, warranties, and plans for future maintenance.
- Plenty of electrical outlets.
- Bathroom with the handle that indicates "occupied". Please include this in all public buildings.
