ILEAD USA Maine Mentor Information

Would you be interested in facilitating a new initiative to encourage Maine librarians to meet Twenty-first Century community needs with interactive, participatory tools?  Do you want to be involved in a project that would exercise your leadership and project management skills?

The ILEAD U State Steering Committee is looking for mentors to help Maine librarians implement web technologies that foster community participation as well as inspire leadership, innovation and positive change.

We are looking for mentors who can help the project achieve its stated mission:

The primary role of the Mentors is to work with their assigned project teams throughout the entire grant process to foster team building, and shepherd the team to complete their team product.  They will also ensure that the virtual sessions during intersession are scheduled.  All expenses, with the exclusion of travel and incidentals, will be covered by the grant. Mentors will not be compensated for their time.  Mentors play a critical role in assisting the Participant Teams to fully benefit from the ILEAD U program.  A Mentor’s role is to develop a relationship with members of the participant team (ILEADers) and to become a trusted counselor to those members.  In addition to other specific roles, mentors offer guidance, serve as sounding boards, share expertise, resolve problems on the spot, remind ILEADers to communicate with their user representatives, and ensure that communication flows between all parties involved with ILEAD U.

In addition, the in-person session 2 will focus on team presentations of the product proposal.  Mentors will give each project team either approval to move forward, or recommendations for modifications.  The other ILEADers will have a chance to comment as well.  Since the mentors have been working with the ILEADers since the beginning of the project, none should have an unacceptable product proposal.

If you have some expertise relevant to the stated outcomes/expected results and are willing and able to organize and lead others please fill out the application to be involved as a mentor in this exciting project.
