Central Maine Library District (CMLD)
The Central Maine Library District (CMLD) is one of three library districts
in the Maine Regional Library System. Each district contains about one third of the state population..
The purpose of the Regional Library System, a program of the Maine State Library, is to:
- Organize library resources and services for research, information, and recreation.
- Improve statewide library service.
- Serve collectively the entire population of the state.
CMLD serves seven counties:
Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset
Membership in the CMLD is free and open to any public, school, academic, medical, or special library in its service area.
The CMLD executive board is elected to represent the interests of all types of libraries in the planning of district services.
