Electricity

Utility Generation Entitlement Sales

Under Maine's restructuring law, the electric utilities are required to divest their interests in electricity generation. In addition to selling their ownership interests in generating plants, utilities are required to sell their entitlements to energy and capacity which they receive under a number of purchased power contracts. Chapter 307 of the Commission's rules governs the bidding procedures under which these sales will be made.
