The Maine Learning Technology Initiative presents “ARTS, INNOVATION and CREATIVITY” Spring Institute on Sunday and Monday, April 6 and 7th at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. Many of the sessions will be presented collaboratively giving participants the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in connecting Visual or Performing Arts to other Learning Results content with a major focus on creativity.

Workshop sessions will include:
- over 30 hands-on creative and imaginative professional develop opportunities;
- interdisciplinary connections between the arts and creative thinking in other Maine Learning Results content areas utilizing technology;
- innovative instruction, curriculum and assessment;
- a link between at least one arts discipline (music, dance, theater or visual art) and at least one other content area from the MLR’s (Career and Education Development, English Language Arts, Health Education and Physical Education, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Studies, World Languages);
- unique learning opportunities for educators utilizing technology to impact teaching and learning for all students.
Other important information:
The Inspiration Station is a space for exploring ideas and is staffed by a bevy of MLTI/ eMINTS Trainer Mentors. We are inviting everyone to share their work on core content areas, with a focus on Visual and Performing Arts. Participants are required to have an Apple laptop (preferably with either the middle school or high school MLTI image or similar software). The major focus is for grades 7-12 educators but all are welcome.
Don't miss Monday's lunch with featured speaker Tim Sample. Art saved Tim on his journey through education. Learn his special perspective on technology, education and life in Maine as he knows it.
Registration will begin Sunday at 1:00 and the conference will end Monday at 2:30p.m.
Registration for the conference opens February 25. The registration fee will be $45 and room cost is $49.50 plus tax based on double occupancy. See registration information below.

Registration Fee: $45.00
Registration Fees can be paid by check made payable to "Treasurer, State of Maine." Payment can be mailed in advance, to the attention of: MLTI, 23 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333 or presented to us at the registration table on the first day of the institute. Purchase Orders are accepted and can be submitted before the event or at the registration table.
Samoset Room Reservations: $49.50 per night/double occupancy / $99.00 per night/single occupancy
The Samoset Resort has blocked a certain number of rooms for this event under the name “MLTI Teacher~Leader Institute." If you wish to reserve a room, please call the Samoset Resort at 800-341-1650 or 207-594-2511. A credit card is required to guarantee your room, but it will not be charged.
Please let the Samoset Resort know if:
- You are sharing a room (please give them the name of your roommate). The room rate is $49.50 per person based on double occupancy, plus sales tax;
- You prefer to room alone and wish to reserve a regular room. The room rate will be $99.00 plus tax;
- You prefer to reserve a suite. Please alert the registration desk.
You will not be charged sales tax if you pay for the room with a check from your school district and bring a copy of the State of Maine Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
. The Sales Tax Exemption number alone is not acceptable.
