Maine Basic Emergency Manager Training Program
MEMA and Maine's County Emergency Management Directors have instituted a "basic training" curriculum for local EMA Directors. Through a combination of online and classroom training, local EMAs can earn MEMA-issued Emergency Manager jackets and patches, and recognition for their accomplishment.
Steps to Earn Basic Emergency Manager Recognition:
- Student completes all required training courses as listed on curriculum guidance and requests certification from County EMA.
- County EMA reviews student request and verifies training in accordance with published training guidance.
- County Director forward request for certification to MEMA Training Officer along with supporting documentation.
- MEMA Training Officer reviews County request and verifies training
- MEMA Training Officer approves request and provides appropriate level of certification, endorsed by MEMA Director and Training Officer to requesting County.
- County obtains jacket (Level 1) or patche and hat (Level 2) from MEMA for local EMA Director and makes the awards at a local meeting or event.
