Make a floor plan of your home ...

  • Identify safe places to go in case of fire, hurricane or flood
  • Practice a fire drill

Check your cupboards. Do you have these items? If not, pick them up at the grocery store this week.

  • 1 gallon water (one for each member of the family)
  • 1 can of meat, fruit and vegetables each for each family member (remember special foods for special diets, if needed)
  • 2 rolls of toilet paper
  • Extra toothbrush
  • Travel size toothpaste

Automobile accidents are the leading cause of deaths and injuries during and after winter storms. While snow and ice make roads slippery, vehicle speed is a major factor in determining the likelihood of a death or serious injury from an automobile accident. Roads can get icy from an inch or less of snow or from freezing drizzle. Patchy black ice can occur even days after a storm. The solution? Slow down.
