Space blankets, the final frontier

Will a Mylar space blanket save you at 40 below in blizzard-force winds? Of course not! A good space blanket, however, will reflect back a lot of your heat -- they're used by rescuers of all sorts. Having one in your car might just help keep you cozy when you're broken down in East Moosejaw, Saskatchewan. Check your pantry. Do you have these items? If not, pick them up at the grocery store this week.

  • 1 box of graham crackers
  • Assorted plastic containers with lids
  • Dry cereal

Check your first aid kit. Do you have these items? Pick them up if not.

  • Anti-diarrheal medication
  • Rubbing alcohol
