Command and General Staff – Complex Incidents
January 10 & 11, 2018

The Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will be conducting a training seminar on the Federal Emergency Management Agency training program for Area Command Staff. Prior completion of the ICS 100 – 300 series is a prerequisite for attendance to this program. This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS) for NIMS compliancy at the state, county, local government and tribal level.

At the end of this course, the participants should be able to:

  • Explain how major incidents pose special management challenges.
  • Describe the circumstances in which an Area Command is established.
  • Describe the circumstances in which multiagency coordination systems are established.
Selection Criteria: The target audience for this course are full and part-time senior chief personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity at multiple emergency incidents or events. This includes individuals who are assigned to serve as Incident Commander or as members of the Command or General Staff, Area Command, or multiagency coordination entity/Emergency Operations Center (EOC) management.

Course Location: The course will be held at the Bangor Police Department in the Training/EOC room. The facility is located at 240 Main Street in Bangor, Maine. Parking is in the training lot down the street from the Police Department. Class will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Breaks and lunch will be provided; all other expenses are the responsibility of the student.
