FEMA will be conducting a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment for Public Assistance in Maine
November 9, 2017
Today Maine Emergency Management (MEMA) Director Peter Rogers received authorization from Governor Paul R. LePage to request a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment for Public Assistance for 14 counties as a result of severe storms that occurred from October 29, 2017 through November 1, 2017.
MEMA immediately forwarded this request to FEMA Region I. FEMA Region I has indicated their readiness and willingness to support this request.
This process will start within the next few weeks and additional information will be provided as it becomes known. The process is used to determine whether or not Maine reaches the threshold required to formally request a Federal Disaster Declaration.
