Recovery from Disaster: The Local Government Role (G205)
September 19-20, 2016

This 2 day course explores the role, design, and functions of Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and their relationship in disaster recovery for local level of government. It is intended to increase local government awareness of issues involved in disaster recovery by providing a forum for discussion of "lessons learned" in disaster recovery and promote the development of a pre-disaster recovery plan at the county or local levels of government.

The target audience for this course is emergency management personnel who may serve in or manage an EOC, to include office of emergency management staff and administration, support function staff, and representatives from municipal agencies/departments that may assist in the recovery process. Class size is limited to 24. Priority attendance will go to In-State, County and Local government Emergency Management personnel.

Course Goal: To provide participants with an increased awareness of the local government involvement in disaster recovery while providing a forum for discussion of "lessons learned" in disaster recovery at the local level and promoting the development of pre-disaster recovery plans.

The G205 Recovery from Disaster: The Local Government Role is a required course for the FEMA APS Certificate. (Formerly G270.4)

Course Location: The course will be held in the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) classroom at the Central Maine Commerce Center (CMCC). CMCC is located at 45 Commerce Drive off Route 27 in North Augusta. Classes will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch and breaks will be provided. Lodging for those traveling more than 50 miles from their work base is eligible for reimbursement. All other expenses are the responsibility of the student.
