TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT: Emergency Exercise Design (G139)

This class will be held September 17 & 18, 2015.

The Maine Emergency Management Agency will be conducting a training seminar for emergency exercise design and evaluation. Emergency managers, emergency services personnel, and individuals who are part of the emergency preparedness and response in communities need to be able to use the fundamentals of exercise simulation and design as an integrated system of resources and capabilities. Skills learned during this program will enable jurisdictions to conduct NIMS required exercises for compliancy.

This course is part of the Maine Basic Emergency Manager Recognition Level II program. Completion of the FEMA online Independent Study Course IS 120.a, an Introduction to Exercises is a prerequisite for attendance.

The course will develop exercising skills in the following areas: Exercise programs: Exercise process: Exercise design steps: Tabletop, functional and full scale exercises: Exercise evaluation: Exercise enhancements: Designing a functional exercise. The course will conclude with students conducting and evaluating actual Functional Exercises in a group/team environment.

Target Audience: State, county and local emergency management officials having direct responsibility for developing and conducting exercises are eligible to attend. It is encouraged that regional teams working in the Homeland Security Emergency Exercise Program also attend the course.

Instructors: MEMA training and exercise coordinators will serve as primary instructors.

Course Location: The course will be held in the MEMA classroom at CMCC. The Central Maine Commerce Center is located at 45 Commerce Drive off Route 27 in North Augusta. Classes will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Lunch and breaks will be provided; lodging is available on a per case basis for those traveling 50 miles to attend the course.
