RecoveryLong after a disaster fades from the headlines, families, businesses and whole communities are still working to rebuild. Recovery takes time and many partners. Maine's voluntary agencies, communities and businesses all have a role to play. It is just as important to prepare to recover as it is to prepare to respond. Government, businesses and other organizations need to think about how quickly they can resume operations after all types of disaster, even if it isn't quite "business as usual". Disasters can cause enormous economic disruption; smooth disaster recovery can minimize that disruption. A successful disaster recovery includes all citizens, businesses and organizations, and leaves a community stronger and more disaster-resilient.
