Programs and Special Projects

Some of MEMA's standing programs, such as Training, Exercise, Communications and Public Information and Education, relate to our ongoing strategies to improve emergency management capability across the state. Mitigation programs likewise are part of continuing efforts to reduce risk from disasters.

Others are legislatively mandated, such the State Emergency Response Commission, which coordinates hazardous materials planning, training and right-to-know, and the River Flow Advisory Commission, which coordinates information and education about Maine's streamflow and groundwater.
