Washington County Hosts Tabletop Exercise

Region IV Emergency Management Agencies Hosts Tabletop Exiercse

On May 30, 2009, the Region IV Emergency Management Agencies (Washington, Hancock, Piscataquis, and Waldo County EMA)hosted a tabletop exercise at the University of Maine at Machias. The exercise discussed the plans, the need for plans, and the need to change plans in the event of a prison escape at the Downeast Correctional Facility.

More than 60 people participated. Participating agencies included MEMA, Washington County EMA, Hancock County EMA, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service (Game Wardens), Department of Conservation (Forest Rangers), Downeast Correctional Facility, University of Maine at Machias, several local school officials, and several local fire and EMS officials.
