Put Safety First During the Storm

AUGUSTA, MAINE – As a powerful coastal storm brings wind, storm surge, coastal and inland flooding, and heavy wet snow to Maine, everyone should put safety first.

Conditions will vary depending on where you are, but this will be a serious storm everywhere in Maine starting Sunday night and continuing.

  • Pay close attention to all weather forecasts and warnings
  • Follow all safety instructions from local officials
  • If you are advised to evacuate, do so
  • Otherwise, avoid traveling if you can
  • Avoid flooded roadways; respect all barricades. Turn around; don’t drown
  • Look after friends and neighbors who may need additional help
  • Take care of your pets
  • Operate all generators with adequate ventilation
  • Follow manufacturer’s instructions when using alternate heat sources
  • Call 911 if you have a life-threatening emergency
