Department of Marine Resources Issues Storm Preparedness Information for Boat Owners and Lobster Fishers
August 25, 20113:00 PM
AUGUSTA, MAINE -- The Department of Marine Resources has suspended evening and weekend closed hauling periods for lobster fishers, effective immediately. Lobster fishers will be allowed to haul and move lobster traps anytime until Hurricane Irene passes by Maine. In addition, the Maine Marine Patrol is advising all those with boats along the coast to secure those boats now. Hurricane Irene is expected to bring high winds and storm surge to the Maine coast. Boat owners should check with harbormasters and marina operators for any local instructions or recommendations.
