Homeland Security Objectives

In 2002, Maine adopted nine Strategic Objectives for Homeland Security in the State.

These objectives direct the specific strategy-setting that takes place annually, as part of a continuing assessment and improvement of capability.

We invite you to read the current Homeland Security Strategy to see how these objectives connect to national priorities and translate into action steps to improve capability at the state and local levels.

Strategic Objectives:

  1. Identify and Assess Threats and Vulnerabilities
  2. Prepare First Responders
  3. Upgrade and Integrate Communications Networks
  4. Secure Our Infrastructure and Institutions
  5. Strengthen Response and Recovery Capacity
  6. Align Roles and Responsibilities
  7. Strengthen Public Health Preparedness and Response
  8. Secure Political and Financial Support
  9. Inform and Engage the Public
