Training Announcement: Basic Instructional Skills (G265)
August 6, 2013
The Maine Emergency Management Agency will be conducting the Federal Emergency Management Agency training program titled Basic Instructional Skills for Emergency Managers (G265), Wednesday and Thursday, September 25 and 26, 2013, at MEMA offices in Augusta.
Effective emergency management means that we capture lessons learned following every incident or exercise. It requires consistent learning, on the part of both organizations and individuals.
As trainers, we play a critical role in this learning process. We share best practices, communicate correct procedures, and ensure that critical skills are mastered. Our training helps to advance careers, shape our leaders, and ensure our communities receive needed services.
This course provides awareness of how to deliver quality training. It is just a starting point. As trainers we know the importance of practice. Therefore, completing the suggested practical exercises is essential to improving your skills. And being a skillful trainer is the key to empowering others with knowledge and skills.
This course is designed for state, tribal, county and local emergency management instructors; State agency partners with emergency training responsibilities are also welcome.
Mike Grant and Jeremy Damren from MEMA will serve as course facilitators.
The course will be held in the MEMA classroom at the Central Maine Commerce Center (CMCC). The CMCC is located on Commerce Drive off Route 27 in North Augusta. Classes will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Day 1 with Day 2 ending at noon. Lunch and breaks will be provided; all other expenses are the responsibility of the student
