Homeland Security Grants: Current Year

Fiscal Year 2009

The grant application period for FY 2009 Homeland Security Grants in Maine closed September 25, 2009. Awards are projected to be announced in mid-November.

Eligible applicants were city and county governments, associated public entities and State agencies. For 2009, based on State and Federal Homeland Security priorities, grant application criteria was focused on:

  • All-hazards emergency planning;
  • Interoperable communications;  
  • Training and exercise;
  • Public education and awareness;
  • NIMS compliance measures; and
  • School district emergency planning

A total of $2.277 million was available for allocation under the competitive process.
