Qualified Products List (QPL)

Products listed on the QPL are pre-qualified for use on Maine Department of Transportation highway and bridge projects. Final acceptance of the product occurs when the product is properly used in the field as determined by the Engineer.

Unless noted otherwise in the specification or on the QPL, these products may be used on highway and bridge projects without further testing. Product placement on this list is not to be construed as an official endorsement by the Department. Nor does inclusion of a product on this list imply that the product meets any or all applicable local, State or Federal regulations related to safety or environmental issues in effect at the time of use. The manufacturer’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) should be referred to before and during the use of any product appearing on this list.

Products are oftentimes marketed as having multiple uses. Products appearing on the QPL are qualified for use only in the specified category they appear under. Should a product be qualified for additional purposes, it will be listed under each appropriate category.

This list is intended as an information tool for contractors, consulting engineers, and Department personnel to identify products meeting the Department's standards or specifications for particular applications. The use of any product listed on this site by a contractor shall in no way relieve contractors from their contractual obligations.

Field performance of these products will be continuously monitored. Products that fail to meet expectations will be removed from the list.

Users are entirely responsible for confirming content of this web site.

Qualified Products List

 

Manufacturers and suppliers wishing to submit a new product should:


1. Review the Product Evaluation Process (PDF) which is an overview of the program.

2. Review MaineDOT's Product Evaluation Flow Chart (PDF).

3. Review the Product Qualification Criteria (if available) for the category of product that you wish to submit:


4. Print and fill out the Preliminary Information for Product Evaluation form (PDF) and then send all the required documents to us via regular mail to the address shown on the form.

NOTE: Please do not send information electronically (as email attachments) as we do not have the resources available to handle that type of submittal. Thank you.

AASHTOs Product Evaluation Listing (APEL) - The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), maintains a database of propriety products utilized in the transportation infrastructure. The fifty (50) states, DC and PR contribute to the database from their experience with the performance of proprietary products.

AASHTOs National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) - The National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) was established in 1994 as an engineering technical service program to pool the professional and physical resources of AASHTO's member departments to test transportation materials of their common interest.

American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) - Since 1969, ATSSA has represented companies and individuals in the traffic control and roadway safety industry. Over 1,600 ATSSA members provide the majority of features, services and devices used to make our nation's roadways safer. These include pavement markings, road signs, work zone traffic control devices, guardrail, and other roadside safety features.
