Our Mission
Welcome to
the Photogrammetry and Control Unit (P&CU) in The Property
Office of the Maine Department of Transportation. Our Mission
is to coordinate and provide all of the photogrammetric mapping
and geodetic control for any of the Maine Department of Transportation's
preliminary engineering projects in a complete, accurate, and
timely manner in support of the Maine Department of Transportation
Investment Program.
The Photogrammetry
Section of P&CU is
responsible for all of the QA/QC, indexing, and maintenance
of the Department's aerial photography and associated products.
This section is also responsible for research and preparation
of necessary data to provide aerial photography products and
services to the Department; as well as maintaining and administering
all contracts that relate to aerial photogrammetry.
The
Control Section of P&CU is responsible for monumenting,
processing, coordinating, and maintaining all of the geodetic
control that is used by the Department. This section maintains
a geodetic Control Survey Crew which utilizes GPS to create
the coordinated base traverse information for all of the field
survey crews. In addition to the Control Survey Crew, this
section is additionally responsible for collecting and processing
Fathometer work, for the collection of noise data information,
and for certain geodetic data research and retrieval for in
house and private company requests using GIS tools.
