MaineDOT Safety Office
The goal of the Safety Office is to provide a comprehensive approach to improve safety for those traveling on Maine’s transportation system; for MaineDOT employees and others working on or along the roadways; and for the overall safety needs of MaineDOT employees. This is being accomplished through:
- Focused look at leading crash and injury trends.
- Establishing transportation system crash and employee injury/illness improvement strategies.
- Cooperative efforts with other state agencies and safety advocates to address the road safety improvement priorities of Lane Departure; Seat Belts; Aggressive Driving; and Younger Older Drivers. This will include safety outreach with a focus on driver behavior.
- Addressing Work Zone Safety issues through programs that reach MaineDOT employees, the general public, and others working in work zones.
- Improve injury data and other safety systems to enable better evaluation of employee safety priorities.
