Children under 5 are afforded free passage.

Children 5 - 11 are charged the Child Fare.

Children 12 and older are charged the Adult Fare.

Rates for Parking (Effective June 1, 2008):

  • Daily Parking Rate (or any part of the day): $10.00*
  • Weekly Parking Rate: $50.00*
  • Monthly Parking Rate:  $95.00*
  • Summer Season Parking Rate (May 15 thru October 15):  $250.00*
  • Winter Season Parking Rate (October 16 thru May 14): $175.00*
  • Year Round Parking Rate: $325.00*

*Maine State Ferry Service Operates Parking Lots at Rockland, Lincolnville, and Bass Harbor.

Parking spaces are limited, the MSFS cannot guarantee parking availability particularly in the summer season (May through September).

Rates and fares are available at all terminals.

General Information

PASSENGERS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE FERRY VESSELS REMAIN ON THE ISLANDS OVERNIGHT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FERRIES OPERATING TO VINALHAVEN AND MATINICUS.  PASSENGERS MISSING THE LAST TRIP OFF THE ISLAND WILL BE STRANDED ON THE ISLAND OVERNIGHT.  FERRIES TRAVELING TO MATINICUS UNLOAD/WAIT APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR/LOAD AND RETURN TO MSFS TERMINAL IN ROCKLAND (PLEASE SEE SCHEDULE FOR RETURN DATE TO MATINICUS).

Vehicle Reservations

Vehicle reservations will not be accepted more than one month in advance of travel date. Payment must include all transportation charges and a  non-refundable reservation fee. Requests should be addressed to the terminal from which travel will begin. Vehicles with reservations must be in line fifteen (15) minutes before scheduled departure, or forfeit their reservation and reservation fee.

Holiday Schedule

Service will be limited on New Year's, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Contact the appropriate terminal for specific schedules on those days.

Disabled Persons

Disabled persons needing assistance boarding or disembarking should notify terminal personnel to assure assistance will be provided.

Pets

Dogs, cats, birds, and other pets must be held secure by leash, crate, cage, etc.    

Refunds

TICKETS SOLD BY THE MAINE STATE FERRY SERVICE HAVE NO EXPIRATION DATE THEREFORE, NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE.

Passenger Safety Information

 

  • Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety and conduct of minor passengers. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
  • All passengers should keep well clear of moving vehicles.
  • Passengers should be prepared for possible jolt during docking of the vessel.
  • Trips may be cancelled due to unsafe weather, sea conditions or mechanical failure.
  • Enclosed passenger space aboard the ferry is limited.

 

Prohibited


Smoking is prohibited on all vessels and in all terminals (including vehicles on the ferry).  Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on all vessels and on all Ferry Service properties (including vehicles on the ferry).  Violations may result in loss of transportation privileges.

Bicycle riders have the same rights and responsibilities as other vehicle operators on roadways in Maine. No warranty or guarantee is made as to the suitability of the roadway conditions or fitness for bicycling.
