Winter Sand Specifications

Please Note: It should be noted that these specs are common to many towns but they could be stricter or looser depending on local desires *.

Aggregate shall be clean sand of hard, durable, sharp-grained particles free from vegetable or organic matter, lumps, or balls of clay or other deleterious substances.

The gradation shall meet the grading requirements as follows:

Penalty for Late Delivery: $______/day will be deducted until the total volume is delivered.

Each delivery shall be accompanied by a delivery slip and those slips shall be signed by a Public Works employee and date of delivery noted.

* looser specs could include having one simple sieve size like “1/2 in. minus”, or no spec on the #200 sieve, or using elongated sieves and not square. Tighter specs could include tighter sieve ranges or more sieve sizes.
